How to Change Your Approach for Positivity

Do you tend to think pessimistically in diverse situations? Here are some tips that are certain to help.


  1. Wake up early every morning.

If you normally wake up at around seven o’clock, try to wake up an hour earlier. It doesn’t only start your day early but it also helps your mind condition be more at peace. Why? Because the most quiet time of the day is during the early hours in the morning. If you are a mom, there’ll be no kids playing or fighting around, no sound of vehicles, not any nuisance which can mess about the silence of your morning.

Waking up early is a great opportunity for you to work out. If you make it as your daily routine, you will never miss a day to work out your body. After-work exercises can sometimes be canceled due to other matters in your life.


Mornings are the most productive time of the day. You can make the kind of breakfast you like to eat. You can eat early and by eating early it means your body is now ready to run for what it needs to do. You can also have time for other things you like to do like reading a book while drinking coffee or listening to music while doing the dishes.

To allow yourself to wake up early of course you must be used to hit hay early as well. Perhaps you might need to drop off watching your favorite late night TV series or your nightly routine of surfing the Internet.

2. Try to make at least 5 people smile every single day. How often do you smile in a day?

Smiling does not only make you feel positive towards people, it helps people feel upbeat on you too. Moreover, smiling is contagious and it attracts positive atmosphere.

Smiling reduces constant worry, it makes you look more beautiful, and it can make you feel happy even if you’re burdened inside. Smile is the best thing to wear throughout the day so smile a lot!


  1. Say NO to Gossip!

There are far better things to do than gossiping with others. Admit it; it’s a total waste of time and energy. It brings out negative feelings, issues from the past, and/or everything that’s out of your control. It will add stress to your state of mind, thus it will gradually change you into a negative person.


  1. Stop worrying on what other people think about you.

Why care about their opinions on you? Does it really matter? NO. You see, you can’t please everyone. Thinking about what others feel about you is another negative pattern you must stop. Do you spend much time in front of the mirror thinking about which is best to wear for today’s gathering with friends? Or you are just worried about the possible disappointments and negative impressions you may give to them when they see you wearing something that might not please their eyes.

Trying so much to please others results to pretending with ourselves. As a matter of fact, people really don’t care about us. If you feel that you are being judged or if their opinions don’t go along with yours, learn to accept it and move forward. What’s more, be mindful of what’s happening in front of you. But of course, looking back helps us to become a better person and remember our future goals in the first place. So stand up and be proud of what you are no matter what. Life is too short to care about what others think.


  1. Work-life Balance.

Let me categorize each of the priorities.

Work includes your ambitions and career. While life or lifestyle includes family, pleasure, health, leisure, and there could more on your list. Literally, how can we really balance both when there’s so much to do on life than work? (LOL)

If you feel that you’re spending so much in your office and couldn’t resist the demands of your job, then many people do. Working overtime, sitting long hours in front of your computer or answering numerous calls from your boss or clients even if you’re at home are the things that contribute a lot on our hassle which makes our approach negative. Spend your day off from work by going on a short trip with family or by playing sports with your kids and when doing that, don’t think about anything related to your work. Focus on the fun and live up with the moment. Most of all turn off your phone.

Furthermore, remember to set your priorities and goals first. List out the most important things you need to do throughout the day, in a week, a month, and even your goals for the year. In this way, you’ll be able to remind yourself on the things you need to do from the things you want to do. Limit or if possible avoid activities that waste your precious time and energy such as surfing your Facebook newsfeed especially when you’re at home. Experts say that spending too much time on social media may actually hurt family relationships and puts more pressure in your social life and emotionally. As one quote goes, “Your job won’t take care of you when you’re sick. Your family will.”



6. Travel

Travel makes you a happier person. It helps you see the positive side of the world. It contributes a lot to change your approach for Positivism. Travelling gives you time for yourself. You might feel that you already know yourself well but there’s more to know more about you when you go to different places. You might be surprise that you have some hidden potentials. You’ll face your fears and discover how to overcome it. It’s the same as reading books because you learn new things. You learn about different people, culture, food, history, adventure and so on… Travelling helps in creating wonderful memories especially when doing it with your family and friends. It brings out the child in you, inspire you to write more if you are a writer, love different people equally, and most of all see things POSITIVELY.

It is very important to invest in our health. Give yourself a break. Need to unwind and have your “me” time? Is your schedule so busy that you can’t even go to a massage parlor? Well, fret not. There are a lot of massage spas in the city that offers home service and wonderful spa experience.

For the last 5 years, massage spas have been invading Davao.  I haven’t been to all of them but I would like to share some of my experiences and recommendations.

There are a number of reasons to get a massage. Here’s a few:

  • It can relieve stress.

Stress can affect our health. It can affect us physically, mentally and emotionally. Chest pains, headaches and hypertension are only the few possible effects of stress. Getting a massage can reduce stress and help us avoid dealing with its more serious effects.

  • It can help improve sleep.

People who have difficulties with sleeping can also benefit from getting a massage. Having a quality sleep is essential to our health. I schedule my massage on weekends after work.

  • Massage Therapy can boost mental health.

Studies show that massage therapy can reduce depression and anxiety. It also shows that getting the right massage can significantly decrease heart rate and blood pressure. (Source:  American Massage Therapy Association or AMTA)

So, what do I usually look for in a massage spa?

Before going to a particular spa, I usually check (or snoop around as others may call it) it first.  I look at their website (if they have one) or visit their Facebook Page. If I can get a contact number, that would be better.

  • Location

For those who have cars, location and parking space are really important. As for me, it’s better if the spa is near from where I am staying. The environment is also a plus. You are there to relax. Choose a place where you feel comfortable and safe.

  • Therapists

The core of every massage spa lies on its therapists. A good therapist and service will definitely make you a regular customer. Therapists must be polite, professional and of course they must be cleanly dressed. It is also important to me that my therapist is sensitive to the kind of pressure (massage) that I want. I personally do not like it when they talk too much. It takes the sense out of having to relax.

  • Massage Style

Different massage therapy spas also have different styles of massage. There are spas that specializes on only one type of massage and there are others that offer almost everything. Choose wisely. Choose one that suits your needs. I suggest trying all types and pick one that you like best. I personally like Swedish Massage and reflexology. Other popular kinds include Thai massage, shiatsu, and hot stone.

You can also tell if a massage spa is good by the way they treat their customers. Ask your friends for feed backs. Google. Do more research if possible.

Located at Mamay Road, Davao City, Davao Del Sur. It’s a must visit place for those who need a good treat. They have good customer service and their therapists are very friendly.

I had a very relaxing and satisfying experience here. They also have lower rates in the afternoon from 3pm to 6pm. For as low as 200php per hour, you can enjoy a massage that would truly calm your senses.




They also offer Sauna for as low as 100php!

If you need a massage but would rather not go out, the Restherapy Spa also has the perfect solution for you! They offer HOME SERVICE for nearby locations for only 400 Php per hour.



  1. Oriental Touch Shiatsu Center

This spa is amazing. Aside from massage therapy, they also offer manicure, pedicure and spa packages! They have been in the business since 2005. They are open from 2pm to 12 midnight.

Their Whole Body Massage costs P299 per hour.

The Foot Massage is also at P299 per hour.

They also offer Home Service which is at P599 per hour.


If you will visit their branches, you would notice that there is no difference with regards to their massage technique. They are very consistent. The therapist and staff are well trained. You’ll definitely experience an amazing service.

I also love the ambience and the music. Very relaxing.  You can book a spa party with them. They also offer Kids Spa Party for your little ones.  They also offer Chi Face Lift Massage, Shiatsu and a combination massage.


  1. Lazuli Spa

It is named after Lapiz Lazuli. A deep blue gemstone believed to have healing properties. This spa is a little bit pricey. Their prices range from 1,200 to 2,500 Philippine pesos, depending on the length and kind of treatment that you like. It’s located at the 4th floor inside the Marco Polo Hotel in Davao City.

They are open daily from 10am to 11pm.  But if you are looking for a place to pamper yourself and relax, Lazuli is definitely a must-go place.  A friend invited me when she was visiting Davao. I was shocked to see the prices at first but after trying their service, I can certainly say that it was worth it. My friend even said that it was one of the highlights of her holiday.

The place is really quiet and clean. The staff are really friendly. Compared to other spas in Davao, the linens feel and smell new. The towels are still puffy and they do not smell. Other spas have very poor hygiene standard that you can even smell the sweat of the other customers all over the spa. I can say that this is one of the best spas in Davao so far.

So, what are you waiting for? If you are in desperate need of some pampering after all the craziness and stress from the past weeks, getting a nice massage is what you might need. Give yourself a wonderful treat.

World of All-You-Can-Eat Buffets

Eating Out has become one of the world’s most favorite hobbies,

although many people considered it as a necessity, especially to those who are too busy in preparing or cooking their own meal at home.  According to, in 2015 28.2% of Americans visit fast-food restaurants once a week and about 34% of Americans visit casual dining restaurants once a week. However recently, an informal form of dining called Buffet meals is increasingly becoming popular among people who definitely love eating out.

Originally, Buffet started in the middle of 16th century in Sweden where guests would gather before dinner for a pre-dinner drink which is then known as “Smorgasbord Buffet”. Until later on in 20th Century, Buffet became popularly known as “All-you-can-eat” or Eat-all-you-can”. In this style of Buffet, diners pay a fixed amount and they can serve themselves with as much food as they wished to eat in a single meal. On the other hand, there are staffed stations wherein specific food such as noodle soups, grilled meats, roasted meats, and many more are being custom prepared.


However, many people are more conscious about their health and feel dubious when their colleagues or friends give them the temptation of dining in a Buffet.

Diet-conscious people might think that they will gain weight in eating at a Buffet restaurant, while some people suggest that we can regularly eat out or eat in a Buffet without gaining weight.  In my opinion, eating at a Buffet doesn’t hurt your diet unless you’re going to eat there every lunch or dinner. That would cost someone a lot of money. Though there are some people who are very keen and diet obsessed who would rather think the worst.

For those diet-conscious people who would like to try the various dishes flaunted in front of the diners not to mention the grandeur of tables around that totally adds up to the enticing ambience of Buffet, there are few things I would suggest they might want to try to do when dining at a Buffet.

  1. Be wise in selecting the dishes.


For instance, you can have a salad of lettuce greens and assorted vegetables without cheese. Make the Salad bars your first stop since most health experts says it can keep you from overeating. Avoid eating the cream-based dishes which are made of mayonnaise, sour cream or cream cheese that are full of fats and increases your cholesterol levels.

Choose your meat wisely too. You can opt for grilled or baked fish instead of fried chicken to avoid too much oil and let’s admit everything that’s fried can destroy your balanced diet. So always choose baked items over deep-fried items.

If possible do not eat white rice. Eat the fiber-rich brown rice when available. It’s rich in fiber and reduces high cholesterol levels. However most Buffet restaurants offer diners white rice than brown rice since it’s cheaper and far more widely available than the brown rice. Fried rice, on the other hand, can also be more loaded with calories than plain rice. Obviously, it contains oil and fat that again can be harmful to your diet.

Some food served in Buffet, believe it or not, may result someone to overeat. Make smart decisions from the start because such clever ways of choosing your meal is quite healthy and yet enjoyable!


  1. Avoid binge-eating.

    Yes, we are talking about Buffet here where you can eat all you want. But hey, just because it’s all-you-can-eat doesn’t mean you should. Of course you may want to try all those delicacies and cuisines from various countries but you may also want to consider in eating small portions in each of those tempting dishes. In my case I prefer to eat dishes which I never eat or don’t eat in a regular basis. The last time I ate in a Buffet restaurant called Vikings, I tried a little bit of the Roast Turkey with Cranberry sauce which was just enough and more enjoyable to eat than the Boneless Roast Pig. Both are some of the food there that I rarely eat.

 Buffets may look like a feast to most people but actually you will never eat all that was offered there because you just can’t. You wouldn’t want to look like an elephant after. Remember, you control the meal. I like to share with you this advice I’ve read somewhere in the internet world,

“Take less of each dish than you think you want. If you like it, you can always get more; if not, you won’t be wasting space on your plate or in your stomach.” – CyanManta

  1. What you got to do with the Desserts.

 Desserts are the most inevitable foods in Buffets so indulge wisely.

You can eat something high-fat dessert such as crème brûlée and share it with your friends or people at your table. Or, choose a low-fat dessert like Sorbet which can give you more nutrition than you can imagine.


  1. Work out before you plan to eat out in a Buffet and the day after. It doesn’t just burn your calories but also curbs your appetite.


For foodies and big eaters, Buffets can be a “food paradise” while for dieters and healthy lifestyle seekers, buffets can be a bad and dangerous thing. Well it depends on which kind of person you think you are. Most importantly, Buffet eating needs to be well-planned. Diners must make best choices of the food, how they may want to eat. Like if they would want to eat like a Viking, course by course, section by section, or concentrate on one station and delicacy. Moreover, health experts suggest that we should never go to a buffet if we are starving. It can be dangerous to our health and damage our appetite. A soup or light meal will reduce the intensity of the hunger and can make us be wiser in choosing the kind and amount of food we eat in buffets.

Sign of Hypertension – High Blood Pressure

Knowing you have hypertension or high blood pressure is important. It is never too late to getting to know “you”.

Back In 2011, I  start to get notice that I have high blood pressure. Everytime that I pay visited with my Gynae, they will take blood pressure on me. It was always on high side but the nurses or my doctor do not pay attention to it.  I trusted them and not saying any comments as I trust their professionalism.
In 2012, I went to Thailand and have my annual check-ups done. I was brought to a special room in Bumrungrad hospital. There was an expert and we had a good talk about my work and all of the kind of how I live my life sort of thing…
Then I realize how my life was in danger when she ask me if do I want to take a pill to lower my blood pressure and that once I start, it will be forever. No wonder I always have  pain on my shoulder and a bad haeadache. I just ignore it by going for a massage almost everyday.

High Blood Pressure? Serious? Not in my family has it. Why should I?
Paying attention to our body is so important! (Please you do not IGNORE YOUR BODY! Do Not Ignore if you are unwell. Don’t think you can save your money by not going for check-up. You will spend more if it gets to worse).

I refused and I said I can make it go away, I came back to Singapore, made a plan on what I need to do. It took me awhile to get started. Then, met a customer for my photography business, good looking in his physique. As usual I like talking to my customers. This customer of mine was very kind enough to encourage and guide me what to eat and what is NOT.
This was back only in January 2013, I started to avoid food such as: Deep fried food, Refined Carbo and Full Fat Dairy Products as well as alcohol ( not totally as I mingle and go out with drinker friends).
I began to really listen and get focus on my plan, my daily diet was to eat 4 to 5 x a day. My friend recommend to eat 6 to 7 x per day in smaller amount but I have no time for it. (still say no time) bad habbit when you say.. you have no TIME for your health?)

No rubbish snacks.  Eat Kiwi or apple or a banana when  feeling  hungry in between.

Wholegrain Oatmeal with Greek non fat Yogurt plus some blue berries sometimes with a little honey to taste. I do have SEA SALT to taste but not often. I have it season to my fish and squeeze of lemon.
For my carbo after long walk, I have brown rice or sweat potato. These are good carbs.
Grilled chicken breast no skin with no salt, loads of green salad with no dressings or just steam broccoli.

Griiled Salmon or tuna with loads of green salad – no dressings is really good for people who is having a symptom of high blood pressure.

What is my motivation to avoid all that?

I love being sexy me.

I did lost a few fats, from 60 Kilos I went down to 52 kilos in just 2 months. My customers and friends were surprize! I also notice that I need to tone my body as I lose weight, my skin get hanging. I go for a walk every morning for an hour or more, depends on my time.

Now, my BP (blood pressure) is very normal. I weight 49 to 50 KLS.

By the way I stand 5 feet and 2 inches tall. Lol! Imagine if I am 60 Kilos heavy? How will I look?

I feels great because my friends said I look good as I get older.
It is about decipline to oneself. I am worried for so many friends I knew they just died and leave thier young children and beautiful good looking husband or wife behind.
It is never too late to keep fit for your love ones.

Lose weight? this question sure comes to our mind..

it is the most spoken topic, the most question occurs is I do exercise but I do not lose weight – why?
We human are being so ignorant. We think that going to the gym or doing an hour of walking, running, or any forms of exercise will make us lose weight.

To some people, they think that by stop eating for few days will make them lose weight too.

Oh man! Oh man!!

To lose weight is not just about having the vigorous exercise, not or stop eating. Forget about all these misconception. Everything we do affects very much to our health and I want to share this informations with you.

How to Yoga?


If it is difficult for you to do yoga, the best way is to join some classes in your nearby community centres.

There are private session as well that you can pay per lessons. This is for you to get familiarise. I did not know what to do before, looking at the photographs alone, cannot just perfect your yoga poses. It is so important that you know the “how”.

If you cannot find a Yoga lessons to attend, find some video on Youtube or Vimeo. There are plenty of those videos you can follow at the comfort of your home.

  • Watch what you eat… Do not just eat..

I was afraid to get out of the country as hearing rumours that young women were battered in Japan  by Yakusa or rape in Saudi Arabia and get hang and caned in Singapore. Due to to poverty  was happening at that time in the Philippines, after I have studied, I needed to find work to support for myself  and then to my family which is a very common brain of thinking to many Filipinos. (get out of the country and find work and get rich), which the fact is not really.

Had a hard time back then in Paranque Manila Philippines.

Sharing a room with a friend, we work at the Pubs in Paranque, my friend was beautiful and I was so dark so I was put in the kitchen and my friend have to entertain the customers. My childhood experience

My parents  died  when me and my other siblings were at the very young age, and you may have an idea of what it looks like growing up without a proper guidance of an adult. My other siblings were separated, they are somewhere in my relatives and I was in my grandparents as I was the youngest one.

As far I can remember, I grow up with rice fields, vegetables and bananas. I went to school with no shoes,  but a rotten fit flops, I kept my shoes for going to church.

When I was in high school age, I decided to go out from the farm, I stayed with some friends home or to my teachers, in return I will clean their homes, babysitting, laundry by my hands. (not like now, we have a washing machines and dyers).

So, I wonder why today the kids are very much spoiled, they have latest model phones, do drugs, being bad to their parents.

I wish for myself today, that my parents are with me, I will shower them  with all my love and will never ever go hunger ever again.

Jeju Island South Korea

Jejudo (also known as Jeju Island) is the largest island off the coast of the Korean Peninsula, and the main island of Jeju Province of South Korea. The island lies in the Korea Strait, southwest of South Jeolla Province. The island contains the natural World Heritage Site Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes.

Jejudo has a temperate climate; even in winter, the temperature rarely falls below 0 °C (32 °F). Jeju or Cheju Island is a Korean resort destination known traditionally for its remarkable women divers, who harvest seaweed and shellfish with little more than a knife and no breathing apparatis. This practice has spread throughout coastal Korea and Japan and in those areas, men have tended to stay home to raise the children while the women worked.

Me and my close  friend Belle experience Jeju Island last May 2016. We had a great time, nice weather when we went there. We stayed at one of the most beautiful hotel in Jeju called  Ramada Hotel.  See image below. This hotel has a wonderful architecture and lash food buffet during breakfast. Our hotel room package includes Standard room.

Inside the room has 2 queen size bed. One for me and 1 for my friend Belle.

My friend sleep like a baby each night. There was one morning she said….” I don’t feel like going back to Singapore. Sanbangsan Mountain

is the result of violent volcanic activity some 700,000 to 800,000 years ago and is in fact a huge body of lava. The cliffs on the southern side of the lava dome are marked with a rich variety of curious formations such as weathering pits and talus scree slopes, some of which are as high as 200m. As its name ‘sanbang’ – literally meaning ‘a cave inside a mountain’ – suggests, this mountain contains a cave, which is located about 150m above sea level and has a spectacular view out over the ocean. Due to its close location to the sea and its high elevation, the peak is often ringed with clouds. The upper slopes of the mountain have their own distinct climatic conditions and are protected for their value for botanical research.


Hallasan Mountain

is mostly formed out of basalt. It is also called MT. YeongJusan which means Mount High Enough to Pull the Galaxy. Hallasan comprises 153.112 of the Jeju island. It rises 1,950m above sea level which means this is the highest mountain in South Korea. It is the only park out of 20 not managed by the Korea National Park Service. Mount Hallasan is famous for its vertical ecosystem.

This mountain is easy to hike. You can go to the peak of this mountain and comeback in one day. The admission to go on this mountain is free. It is limited to day hiking.   The best months to climb up the mountain is May, June, July. It takes about 5 hours to reach the peak in a slow pace.

Hallasan stands out at the center of South Korea’s southern most island, boasting at exquisite landscapes due to its varied volcanic topography and vegetation distribution ranging vertically though subtropical, temperature, frigid and alpine zones.
